Bio To most, other than her adoptive father, Gally is an enigma. After the catastrophic incident that would alter her life – her memory included –, and tragically end the lives of her real parents, not more was known about her other than her status as a hapless orphan. But as formerly presented, she was not always like this, and neither was she simply a mystery child. Her original name had been Gally Kunst, she was a German girl, a pure blood, and child of Sylvia and Avion. Her parents were a prestigious pair in themselves, as her father specialized in casting and removing hexes, curses, and charms. Her mother on the other hand worked in a pet store, but not one ordinarily seen in the Muggle World.
Her business, just as her husband’s was found in the Wizard World, down in Diagon Alley. Gally traveled there many times with her parents, enjoying the akin company and splendors of her own people. Her life at this point had been bereft of any Muggle influence, aside from the harmonica that her father had given her for her fourth birthday; “Punzer Kunst” was ingrained onto the top surface of the instrument. She was their only child, and they were preparing her for the future that hadn’t been as obtainable for themselves. Both were familiar with Hogwarts, though neither had attended the school when they were youths. But they had high hopes for their daughter, knowing that someday day she would surpass them and make a name for herself.
They didn’t know how right they were, but it wouldn’t be the girl’s wizardry that would draw people near. Not too long after her fourth birthday, the family had taken a tour within one of the decrepit castles in Germany. It was one of the few excursions that the family took about the artifacts in the Muggle world. It was thought to be something exciting, observable, and most of all, safe. But here, her parents met a tragic end as mysteriously, the castle crumbled with the three of them inside. As the castle fell, they tried to protect her, even with the risk of their own lives. The aged stones crushed them, and Gally was surprisingly spared, at least, all but her arms remained intact. Paramedics came onto the scene after people in a nearby town heard the sliding and falling stones.
Gally’s parents were pronounced dead on sight, but she was sent to a hospital, where they tried to patch up her arms. The doctors were unable to, and she was bleeding at an alarming rate. With the fear of her dying on their minds, they did they only thing they could do; they amputated her arms. After this surgery, events seemed like a blur to Gally, and her mind was empty. It took doctors a while to find out that she had suffered from a major concussion; it resulted with amnesia. She couldn’t remember anything, other than her name and “Punzer Kunst” (the inscription on her harmonica). The doctors didn’t know what to do at the moment, for she was only a minor of four years. So, they placed her in an orphanage after some months of recovery. While she was there, she gained quite a bit of noticement as “the amnesiac without arms”.
Gally was completely miserable, as she didn’t know of her origin (other than being German), and she didn’t have any family. She felt alone. For about two years, leading into her sixth birthday, she remained at the orphanage. Only then did someone come to adopt her; she had been avoided for so long, due to the ambiguity of her past. The man’s name was Daisuke Ido, he originally came from Japan, but was looking to settle in Germany. Gally sealed his fate in the new nation, as he couldn’t part from her. Having lost a daughter of his own, and his wife some years later, he felt a bond with the girl (they both had a void). Gally was quiet at first, but she eventually grew used to his presence as he visited her occasionally at the shelter. Two months after meeting her, he adopted Gally, and she soon became known as Gally Ido.
The two lived together in basic harmony, and Gally grew fond of the Muggle World (since Daisuke wasn’t a wizard). Daisuke even caught himself calling her Alita, his deceased daughter’s name. Ido, also being a cybernetic doctor, put it upon himself to make Gally new prosthetic arms. Thankfully, they allowed her better mobility after so many years, and she was able to blend in with crowds somewhat more. He knew about her parents, and he was also aware that she couldn’t remember anything about them. He decided not to tell her, not until the right moment. The time didn’t come until she was about eight years old. At first, the thought seemed a bit ridiculous, but Gally took the information somewhat hard, becoming isolated in her room for about a month. With a bit of bonding later on, Gally did eventually accept the truth, though there was still a void. Who were her parents? And why hadn’t she been told sooner? These questions have remained unanswered for quite a while, but even more quandary followed as Gally went about very strange behavior.
Suddenly, she found herself being able to make plants grow with a simple notion, and she was able to open windows, doors, and cabinets without setting her fingers upon their surfaces. Ido was just as muddled as Gally, but things began to slowly come into place. Daisuke did a bit of studying, and came across information on witches and wizards. It soon became clear that Gally was not only a witch, but her parents had probably shared similar traits. This explained the lack of a personal record for them, since they were untraceable. Now it was Daisuke’s time to accept something foreign, and it took him a much longer time to do so. Eventually, he did come to a certain compromise; he didn’t want Gally to practice her “art” outside of his household. So, Gally did abide by this term, and she seemed complacent with the new changes.
But that wasn’t the end of it. Around her tenth birthday, she received an unexpected letter from a certain school, Hogwarts to be exact. Ido was about to lose his mind. Not only was his adoptive daughter a witch, but she also had to go to a boarding school for training. He wasn’t willing to let her go, but Gally insisted. She wanted to learn, she wanted to learn more about her past, more about her blood, and gradually... more about her parents. The school probably held the key to some of her questions, and she knew that by missing this opportunity, she would be left in the dark for good. Daisuke knew that she was right, but he didn’t want to let her go. But he had to, and he felt somewhat assured that she would return during Christmas break and the summer. So, with all of this squared away, he allowed her to travel down to Diagon Alley (so that she could get the needed apparatus). He couldn’t follow her, for it was not a place for Muggles. But they were given latter instructions to send her down there.
